We got engaged on a boat off of Porto Ercole, on the Tuscan coast. We spent the day out on the water with plenty of sun, pasta, and wine.
But it all started with a chili cook-off at Camp No Counselors. Alex made an authentic Texas chili with no beans or tomatoes. Ali made a vegetarian chili consisting only of beans and tomatoes.
At CNC we got to know each other better by dressing up in silly costumes and generally acting like children.
We later started doing grown-up things together, like going to friends' beautiful weddings.
Ali accompanied Alex to the premiere of his film at Sundance even though she hates the cold.
Soon enough, we were living together and riding Alex's Vespa all over Brooklyn...
And taking vacations together, mostly centered around drinking good wine.
And also well-placed hammocks.
In Septebmer, we took another wine-inspired trip, this time to Italy.
Alex secretly rented a boat for the day. It picked us up on this cool dock.
We did some swimming and some snorkeling...
Then we went to the island of Giglio and ate some pasta.
In January, we added a 3rd member to our family. Her name is Lola and she's perfect.
